Kit(?)

Your CMOS battery (Part # CR2032) is dead requires replacing. Your symptoms indicate this.

Apparently BookPCs chew these batteries if you have long periods of no power to the unit.

Hope this helps.

: I'm hoping this is not an isolated problem and that others might have seen
: it before.

: I have a BookPC with an AMD K6-2 processor and 32Meg of memory. It was working
: just fine for a long time but now I can't get it too boot properly into
: Windows. I think it is a CMOS related problem. When I boot the machine it
: tells me that there is a checksum CMOS error. It resets the default settings
: and asks me if I want to continue (press F1) or go into the CMOS setup
: (press DEL).

: If I go into the CMOS settings and either set things by hand or hit F7 to set
: the optimal settings or do minimal settings, the results are the same. When
: I reboot, it gives me the same message about a CMOS checksum error.

: If I hit F1 to continue, it boots as far as the Win98 screen but never goes
: any further. If I don't let it boot all the way, but go into safe mode, it
: lets me go into windows but without a lot of the drivers, such as the CD-ROM,
: sound, etc. I can check my hard drive, go into settings in the control panel
: and look around, but I can find nothing wrong. I don't think this a software
: or registery problem.

: Has anyone seen this CMOS problem before? How can I get around it?

: Thanks,
: Kit
