Also, be sure to try a keyboard that does not need a keyboard adapter to work.
If it is a really old (say 80-88 key keyboard) check the underside for an XT/AT switch.
Otherwise, if all the above checks out, sounds like the keyboard fuse is slown. This is generally a small round green or black object near the conenctor (looks like a resistor). Repalce it with one from another motherboard or search the web.
